Who is responsible

Derek Boyer, established in the United States, is responsible for WanderWay's processing described in this policy. Contact support@wanderwayapp.com with privacy questions or requests.

Information WanderWay uses

Location and route information

With your permission, WanderWay uses precise location to show your position, find tourist sites, calculate routes, provide navigation, and reroute when needed. During active navigation, location may be used in the background so guidance can continue while the app is not visible or the device is locked.

Route requests and map functions are provided through Apple Maps. Searches for tourist sites may send geographic search areas to the WanderWay service and OpenStreetMap Overpass services. Wikipedia or Wikidata identifiers and place names may be used to retrieve available descriptions. Geographic matching can also send the location of a place being researched to Wikipedia. Wikimedia Commons receives image identifiers when the app checks photo credits and licensing, and image requests when photos are displayed.

Weather and sunset times

When you drive to a destination, WanderWay can show the forecast there for the time you are expected to arrive. To get it, the app sends the destination's location to Apple Weather (WeatherKit) and refreshes the forecast while it is shown. You can turn this off with Show Destination Weather in WanderWay Settings. To time a Sunset Drive, the app asks Apple Weather for the sunset time at each of the few spots it considers (up to three); if Apple Weather does not answer, the app calculates the time on your device. Show Destination Weather does not affect Sunset Drive. These requests go from your device to Apple, which receives your network address with them. They contain the location of your destination or of the sunset spots, not your live position. For a drive that loops back to where it started, the destination is that starting point, so Apple Weather receives it.

If a Sunset Drive starts later, WanderWay can remind you when to leave with a notification it schedules on your device. iOS asks for notification permission the first time; the reminder is not sent through WanderWay or any other server.

When you open Curated Routes, WanderWay gets a weather forecast for the drive from MET Norway and weather alerts from the US National Weather Service. The app sends the WanderWay service the route's starting point, usually where you are, rounded to about one kilometer, and the service requests the forecast and the alerts for that point, even outside the United States, where the Weather Service has no alerts. Those providers do not receive your network address.

Voice destination search

When you choose voice search in CarPlay and grant microphone and speech-recognition permission, WanderWay temporarily records speech to recognize a destination. Recognition runs on your device when supported; otherwise Apple's speech-recognition service may process the audio. The recognized place name is used for an Apple Maps search. WanderWay does not save voice recordings or send them to its own service. You can revoke microphone and speech-recognition permissions in iPhone Settings.

Content you save

Saved trips, favorites, settings, prepared tourist content, and cached descriptions are stored on your device. You can remove saved content in the app or by deleting WanderWay.

When a guided drive arrives, when CarPlay disconnects, or when you choose Save Where I Parked, WanderWay saves where your car is parked so you can walk back to it. That location is kept only on your device and is forgotten when you drive again or after 48 hours.

Drive summaries, speed, and the Road Trip Journal

During navigation, WanderWay uses location readings to calculate current speed, distance traveled, and drive duration. A post-drive summary can include narrated places. These calculations happen on your device. Drives and walks you navigate are saved on your device in the Road Trip Journal with their route, date, distance, duration, and the places you passed, and you can delete a drive from the journal. To list the states or provinces a drive passed through, WanderWay looks up a few points along it with Apple's geocoding service. It also asks Apple's geocoding service about your current position to name the town a drive or walk starts in for its journal title, to name the town you are in when you explore on foot, to offer where you are as a choice when you set Home, Work, or another of My Places, and, in CarPlay, to tell which side of the road traffic keeps to. When you drop a pin, it asks the same service about the pin's location to name it. If you choose to share a drive, the drive card or text summary you pick is sent through the app or service you select.

Photos

A Road Trip Journal page can show photos from your photo library that were taken during that drive, and so can the Photo Recap that WanderWay offers when a drive or walk ends. WanderWay asks for photo library access only when you tap Show My Photos on a journal page or open a Photo Recap, and it reads nothing from your library unless you allow access. To find a drive's photos, WanderWay looks at when each photo was taken and, if the photo has a location, where. It shows photos taken during the drive or within 30 minutes before or after it, and leaves out photos whose location is far from the route. If you allow access to selected photos only, WanderWay can see only those photos.

Finding and showing these photos happens on your device. WanderWay does not copy, change, or upload your photos, and it does not send them or their details to the WanderWay service. Photos leave your device only in a Photo Recap you choose to share, as described below. If you use iCloud Photos, iOS may download a photo from iCloud so it can be shown. You can change or turn off photo library access at any time in iPhone or iPad Settings.

A drive card is an image WanderWay makes on your device from a map of the drive, provided by Apple Maps, and the drive's details, such as its date, distance, and the places you passed. It does not include photos from your library. It is shared only when you choose to share it, through the app or service you select. Saving a drive card to Photos adds just that image to your library. If iOS asks for permission to add photos, that permission lets WanderWay save images to your library but not see the photos in it.

A Photo Recap you share is an image WanderWay makes on your device from a map of the drive or walk, provided by Apple Maps; a title naming the town where it started and, for a drive, its destination; its distance and duration; the places you passed; and up to four of the photos from your library that it found for that drive or walk. Every share also includes a text summary with the distance and duration, the names and categories of the places you passed, and a title naming where it started and, for a drive, its destination; unlike the image's title, this one can name Home or Work. A Photo Recap is shared only when you tap Share Recap, through the app or service you select, and anyone who receives it can see those photos. If the image isn't ready yet, only the text summary is shared, without photos.

Shared route links

When you share a route, WanderWay makes a link to wanderwayapp.com/drive that contains the route's name, its stops and destination with their names, locations, and, for places that have one, map identifiers, whether it returns to the start, your Avoid Highways and Avoid Tolls settings, and when it was shared. These details are in the part of the link after “#”, which browsers don't send to a server, so wanderwayapp.com receives only a request for the page, and the page reads the route on the device that opens it. That page doesn't load Cloudflare Web Analytics or the Reddit Pixel. The link goes only where you send it, through the app or service you select, and anyone who has it can see the route.

Apple Watch

If you use WanderWay on Apple Watch, your iPhone sends it the current instruction, distances, arrival time, and the names of the next place and your destination while you are guided, over the connection iOS keeps between your iPhone and your paired watch. This information is not sent to the WanderWay service.

Purchases

WanderWay's free trial and one-time unlock are in-app purchases handled by Apple through the App Store under Apple's terms and privacy policy; refunds are requested from Apple, and Redeem Code uses Apple's code redemption. WanderWay doesn't receive your payment details, and no WanderWay server receives your purchases: the app asks the App Store, on your device, what you own, and Apple keeps your trial's start date with your purchases. To recognize people who bought WanderWay when it was a paid download, the app also checks, on your device, which version you first downloaded and when; it asks the WanderWay service only for the date the price changed.

Diagnostics

WanderWay can store navigation diagnostic events on your device, including precise route locations, to help troubleshoot guidance and performance. These diagnostics leave your device only when you explicitly choose to share them. iOS may also provide crash, hang, launch, CPU, and memory diagnostics, which WanderWay stores locally for review and optional sharing. Diagnostic data can be deleted in Settings.

Place correction reports

If you submit a correction, WanderWay sends the place’s OpenStreetMap identifier, name, category, coordinates, report reason, relevant Wikipedia or Wikidata identifiers, and any details you enter. The service also processes a one-way hash derived from the network address for short-term abuse prevention. Correction reports are retained for up to 180 days after submission, unless deleted earlier; reviewing a report doesn't extend that. If a review confirms a report, the service keeps a separate record for that place, with the report's reason and the review date, for 180 days after the review, so the place's description stays withdrawn. If the review hides the place, for example because it doesn't exist, a marker with the same reason and date is kept until it is removed, so the place stays off the map. Neither record contains the details you entered. Avoid including personal information in the details field. The hashed network-address counter expires one hour after its latest accepted submission; hashing does not make network information anonymous.

WanderWay for Android

WanderWay for Android is a separate, smaller app for exploring places on a map, on your phone and in the car with Android Auto or Android Automotive OS (Google built-in). It can search for a destination, and it plans drives such as a Curated Drive on your device. Navigate either guides you in WanderWay, if your version of the app offers turn-by-turn guidance, or hands the place to the navigation app you choose. The Android app has no weather, saved trips, Road Trip Journal, drive or route sharing, photo library access, or diagnostics, so the parts of this policy about those features apply only to the Apple app. The Android app never asks to use your location all the time, but while it guides you, it keeps using your location when the screen is off or another app is in front, as described below. The sections on place correction reports, how information is used, the services involved, storage, and your rights apply to both apps. This is what the Android app sends, and where it goes:

• Your approximate location, or a pin you drop. To find places, the app first rounds your position, or a pin you drop and search around, to a grid of points 0.03 degrees apart (about 3 km north to south, and 2 to 3 km east to west in most of the US). It then sends the WanderWay service the identifiers of the map tiles that cover your search radius around that rounded point, each a tenth of a degree (about 11 km north to south and 8 km east to west in the US), and, when scenic byways are shown, of the larger tiles, one degree (about 100 km) across, that cover about 60 km around it. For Recreation.gov, it sends the rounded point itself. So the requests show the grid square you are in, a few kilometers across, but not where you are within it. The WanderWay service then asks OpenStreetMap (Overpass), the National Register of Historic Places data service on ArcGIS, and Recreation.gov about those areas from its own server. In the car, the app sends the same kind of map tile requests each time its place list opens or refreshes, or you open a Sunset Drive or Curated Drive, around the phone's location with Android Auto or the car's location with Google built-in. It doesn't send Recreation.gov, National Register, or byway requests from the car. If you use Prepare for Offline on the phone to download the places along a planned drive or walk, which starts where you are, the app sends the identifiers of the tiles within about 4 km of it that aren't already on your device, and then looks up the descriptions of the places in them, as described below. These tiles are chosen around your exact starting point, the stops, and straight lines between them, not around the rounded grid point above, so they show roughly where the drive goes and can narrow down where it starts more closely than a grid square.
• The place you open. To show a description, street-level photos, EV charger details, or national park information, the WanderWay service asks Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Mapillary, Open Charge Map, or the National Park Service using that place's name, location, or identifiers, not your location. Charger lookups are rounded to about 100 meters. The app also sends the place's identifier to check whether its description was withdrawn after a correction report. In the car, descriptions are looked up the same way.
• Requests that go directly from your device. Photos load directly from Wikimedia Commons, and street-level images directly from Mapillary's image servers, which are run by Meta, so those providers receive your network address when an image is shown. If the WanderWay service can't answer a description or photo-credit lookup, the app asks Wikipedia, Wikidata, or Wikimedia Commons directly, with the place's Wikidata identifier, its location, or a photo's file name, and they receive your network address too.
• Destination search, only when you search. When you search for a destination, on the phone or in the car, the app sends the WanderWay service what you type, once you pause typing, and a position so that results near you come first: where the app located you or, on the phone, the pin you're exploring around. This position is not rounded. If location access is off, the app sends no position of yours. In the car, the app also sends the search when you submit it, and while you drive you say your search instead of typing it: Android Auto or the car's own system turns it into text, and WanderWay receives only the text, not your voice. The WanderWay service passes your search and the position to HERE from its own server, and HERE finds the results. The service doesn't store or cache searches, and the app keeps the results only while the search is open.
• Turn-by-turn guidance, if your version of the app offers it. When WanderWay starts guidance, on the phone, with Android Auto, or in a car with Google built-in, the app sends the WanderWay service your current position as the start of the route, the location of the place you're going to, your language, and whether you use miles or kilometers. Guidance starts when you tap Navigate or, in the car, when Android Auto, the car's own system, or another app asks WanderWay to navigate to a location. The WanderWay service asks HERE for the route from its own server and sends it back. If you leave the route, the app asks again the same way, from where you are then. The service doesn't store or cache routes or the positions in them, and the app keeps the route only until guidance ends. While you're guided, the app follows your precise location on the device, also when the screen is off or another app is in front, and shows a notification you can end guidance from; on Android 13 and later the phone asks your permission to show it. The directions are read aloud by the text-to-speech engine set on your phone or car, and you can mute them. On the phone, if no route comes back, Navigate hands the place to your navigation app instead; in the car, WanderWay shows that it couldn't get directions and doesn't pass the place on.
• The places you navigate to, only when Navigate hands off. When Navigate doesn't start guidance in WanderWay, the app opens Google Maps, Waze, or another navigation app you pick on your device, with the place's location and, for apps that show it, its name. For a Curated Drive or a Scenic Detour, it passes the stops along the way too: unless you chose Waze, which receives only the first stop, the drive opens in Google Maps with up to eight stops and a destination. A Curated Drive also passes your Avoid Highways choice, and it returns to where it started, so the last location Google Maps receives can be your starting point, usually where you are. If Google Maps or Waze isn't installed, its website opens in your browser instead, and if you chose Ask every time and no installed app can open a single place, Google Maps opens in your browser. Either way, the browser sends those locations to Google or Waze. In the car, Navigate passes the place to the car's navigation app when your version of the app doesn't guide you itself. Apart from a drive that returns to its start, WanderWay doesn't hand over your own position; the navigation app uses your location to give directions under its own privacy policy.
• Place correction reports, only if you submit one. A report contains the place's identifier, name, category, and location, any Wikipedia or Wikidata identifiers it has, the reason you chose, and any details you type (up to 500 characters). It is handled as described under “Place correction reports” above.
• Network information. Like any internet app, each request reveals your network (IP) address and basic technical details, such as the app's version, to the service that receives it. The WanderWay service doesn't store your network address with these requests: Cloudflare counts requests per network address for one minute to prevent overuse, and correction reports use the hashed counter described under “Place correction reports” above. The service's logs record only the kind of request, how long it took, whether its cache or a provider answered it, and any errors, not your network address, the area, the place, what you searched for, or your route. Its cache is kept by map tile, rounded location, or place and shared by everyone, not by person, as described under “Storage and international processing” below. Searches and routes aren't cached.
• Google Maps. The map is provided by the Google Maps SDK for Android, which loads map tiles from Google. The SDK also sends Google your network address; information about your device, such as its model and Android version; crash reports from the SDK; a pseudonymous identifier Google uses to count the SDK's users; and what Google's disclosure for the SDK calls the Internal Usage Attribution Identifier, which tells Google which of its map libraries the app uses. It may also send how the map is panned and zoomed. Google handles this under Google's privacy policy.

If you allow location access, the app uses your precise location on your device to center the map, find nearby places, sort them by distance, and follow your progress during guidance. Only destination search and turn-by-turn guidance send your position to the WanderWay service and HERE, as described above; everything else sends the WanderWay service and its providers only the approximate areas described above. On a phone, the location fix comes from Android and Google Play services, and the Google Maps map shows the area around you, under Google's own settings and privacy policy; in the car, Android Auto, or the car's own system with Google built-in, uses your precise position to show it on the car's map, also under Google's privacy policy. You can change location access at any time in Android settings. Favorites, settings (including your navigation app), category choices, cached places (including any you download for offline use), and onboarding progress are stored on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app. On Android 12 and later, Android's tool for moving to a new phone can copy your favorites, settings, category choices, onboarding progress, and free trial and unlock status, but not cached places, to the new phone. The Android app has no account, no advertising identifier, and no advertising. WanderWay adds no analytics or crash-reporting tools of its own (the Google Maps SDK's reporting is described above), and the app does not access your contacts, photos, files, or microphone.

When the Android app offers its free trial and one-time unlock, Google Play handles the purchase under Google's own terms and privacy policy, and refunds are requested through Google Play. WanderWay doesn't receive your payment details, and no WanderWay server receives your purchases: the app asks Google Play, on your device, whether you own the unlock. If you start the free trial, its start date is kept on your device and, on a phone with backup to your Google Account turned on, in that backup, so reinstalling the app doesn't start a new trial. Nothing else from the app is included in Android's cloud backups.

How information is used

Information is used only to provide and improve app functions, including mapping, routing, navigation, tourist-site discovery, offline content, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and correction review. The WanderWay app does not require an account, show third-party advertising, sell personal information, or track you across other companies' apps and websites. Website analytics and advertising measurement on wanderwayapp.com are described under “Our websites” and “Advertising measurement” below.

Processing grounds for people in the EEA

We process information necessary to deliver the mapping, navigation, discovery, and support functions you request to perform our contract with you. Location, microphone, speech-recognition, and photo library access also require the device permissions described above (the Android app asks only for location and, for turn-by-turn guidance, to show notifications); declining access limits the features that need it.

For abuse prevention and review of voluntarily submitted place corrections, we rely on our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and its information accurate. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Optional sharing of diagnostic files is based on your consent, which you can withdraw by contacting us; withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. We process privacy requests where necessary to meet legal obligations.

For hosting our websites and counting page views on wanderwayapp.com, we rely on our legitimate interests in delivering and securing the sites and understanding, in aggregate, how people find them.

For measuring our Reddit ads with the Reddit Pixel, where consent is required we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through Cookie settings under “Advertising measurement”; withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Answering a message you send through the website contact form or by email is based on our legitimate interest in replying to you, or on our contract with you when you ask for help with the app. The Turnstile check and the per-address message limits are based on our legitimate interest in keeping the form free of spam and abuse.

Our websites

This section covers the WanderWay websites, wanderwayapp.com and the WanderWay support site, including copies of them at other web addresses. It does not apply to the WanderWay app, which does not include website analytics or the Reddit Pixel.

Both sites are hosted by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details to deliver and protect the pages.

wanderwayapp.com uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which sites refer visitors, so we can understand how people find WanderWay. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies, local storage, or fingerprinting, and does not track visitors across websites. The Reddit Pixel described under “Advertising measurement” below is separate and does use a cookie. It records the page viewed (but not any query string in its address), the referring page, and how quickly the page loaded, along with the country, browser, operating system, and device type. Cloudflare does not store your IP address for these statistics. We see only totals, not individual visitors.

wanderwayapp.com serves its fonts itself, not from a font service; the support site uses your device's fonts. wanderwayapp.com saves your language choice, whether you dismissed its language suggestion, and your cookie choice in your browser's local storage; that information stays in your browser.

The wanderwayapp.com contact page also loads Cloudflare Turnstile, a spam check for its contact form, described under “Website contact form” below. No other wanderwayapp.com page loads it.

The support site uses no analytics, cookies, or third-party scripts.

Advertising measurement

wanderwayapp.com uses the Reddit Pixel, provided by Reddit, Inc., to measure how visitors who come from Reddit ads reach and use the website. When a page loads, the pixel sets a cookie (_rdt_uuid) in your browser and sends Reddit a page visit event along with device and browser information, such as your network address, browser and device type, and the page you viewed.

We use this only to measure and optimize our Reddit ads. The Reddit Pixel is on wanderwayapp.com only. It is not in the WanderWay app, and no information from the app is shared with Reddit. Reddit handles the information it receives under its own privacy policy.

If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), the United Kingdom, Switzerland or Brazil, or we cannot tell where you are, the website asks for your consent first, and the pixel does not load, set its cookie or send anything to Reddit until you accept. Elsewhere it loads automatically. To decide whether to ask, Cloudflare, which hosts the website, tells the page which country your request came from; we use that only for this decision and do not store it. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (ww-consent).

You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings on wanderwayapp.com’s privacy page, which clears your saved choice and asks again. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use a content blocker to stop the pixel from loading, or change your advertising choices in Reddit's privacy settings.

Website contact form

The contact form on wanderwayapp.com asks for your name, your email address, a topic, and your message. Sending it also passes the WanderWay service the address of the page you sent it from, your browser’s user-agent string, and your network address.

Before a message is sent, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is using the form. It runs in your browser, and the WanderWay service sends Cloudflare the check’s result token and your network address to confirm it. Cloudflare processes this under its own privacy policy.

The WanderWay service does not store your message. It emails it, through Cloudflare, to the support inbox, with your email address set as the reply address. The public support address is support@wanderwayapp.com. The email contains your name, email address, topic, message, the page, your browser’s user-agent string, and the time it was received. Cloudflare may keep a record of the delivery under its own policy. Apple iCloud hosts the support inbox.

To prevent abuse, the service counts messages per network address using a one-way hash of the address. Each counter expires an hour after the end of the day (UTC) it counts; hashing does not make network information anonymous. The service’s logs record only whether a message was sent or why it was refused, never your name, your addresses, or what you wrote.

Messages stay in the support inbox with other support email. To have yours deleted, write to support@wanderwayapp.com, ideally from the address you used, with the approximate date you sent it.

Services involved

• Apple Maps and MapKit provide maps, search, routes, traffic, and navigation-related data in the Apple app.
• Google Maps SDK for Android provides the map in the Android app. Google Play handles purchases and refunds in the Android app when it offers them.
• HERE provides destination search results in the Android app and, where it offers turn-by-turn guidance, routes and directions. The WanderWay service requests them from its own server: for a search, with what you searched for and the position results are ranked around (where the app located you, or a pin you're exploring around); for guidance, with your current position as the start of the route, the place you're going to, your language, and whether you use miles or kilometers. The Apple app doesn't use HERE.
• Apple Speech converts spoken destination searches into text, on device when supported.
• OpenStreetMap and Overpass provide community-maintained place data.
• Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Wikimedia provide available place descriptions and media.
• Cloudflare hosts the WanderWay service used to retrieve and cache tourist information, pass the Android app's destination searches and route requests to HERE, accept place correction reports, and email website contact form messages to the support inbox, and hosts the WanderWay websites. Cloudflare Turnstile checks contact form messages for spam.
• Apple (iCloud Mail) hosts the support inbox, support@wanderwayapp.com, which receives contact-form messages.
• The National Register of Historic Places data service hosted on ArcGIS provides optional historic-place listings using geographic search areas.
• Wikivoyage provides travel-guide introductions to the town a route ends in. Apple Maps finds the town; only its name is requested from Wikivoyage, through the WanderWay service.
• Apple Weather (WeatherKit) provides the forecast at your destination and sunset times for a Sunset Drive. The app requests them directly from Apple with the location of the destination (for a drive that loops back, its starting point) or the spots a Sunset Drive considers.
• Apple (App Store) handles the free trial, the one-time unlock, refunds, and code redemption in the Apple app.
• MET Norway provides weather forecasts and the US National Weather Service provides weather alerts, which cover only the United States, for a Curated Route. The WanderWay service requests both for the route's starting point, rounded to about one kilometer, wherever it is.
• The National Park Service provides hours, fees, and alerts for national park sites. Only park identifiers are requested, through the WanderWay service.
• Recreation.gov provides trailheads, historic sites, and tours on federal land. The WanderWay service requests them for search areas rounded to about one kilometer, or about three kilometers in the Android app.
• Mapillary provides street-level photos and Open Charge Map provides EV charger details for a place you open. The WanderWay service requests them using that place's location, not yours.
• The US Department of Transportation scenic byway data is stored on the WanderWay service, so showing byways sends no request to the Department.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views and referring sites for wanderwayapp.com, without cookies and without tracking visitors across websites.
• Reddit (Reddit, Inc.) receives page visit events and device and browser information, and sets a cookie, through the Reddit Pixel on wanderwayapp.com, to measure Reddit ads, after you consent where consent is required. The app does not use it.

These providers may process network information and request data under their own privacy policies.

Requests the WanderWay service makes for you come from its server, so those providers don't receive your device's network address. Photos and street-level images are the exception: they load directly from Wikimedia and Mapillary (Meta) servers, which receive your network address when an image is shown. So are description and photo-credit lookups when the WanderWay service can't answer: the app then asks Wikipedia, Wikidata, or Wikimedia Commons directly. So are National Register listings in the Apple app when the WanderWay service can't answer: the app then asks the National Register of Historic Places data service on ArcGIS directly, with the center and radius of the area being searched; the center can be where you are.

Storage and international processing

The publisher is in the United States and the services listed above operate internationally. Requests and information you send may be processed outside your country, including outside the EEA. Information stored only on your device is not automatically uploaded to the WanderWay service. Device backups, if enabled, are governed by your device and backup settings.

Our service caches public responses, such as place lists, articles, and weather, so it doesn't have to ask its providers again for every request. Cached responses are stored for up to 60 days, and OpenStreetMap place data for up to a year, and are refreshed from the providers as they age. These caches are kept by map area, rounded location, place, or article and shared by everyone, not by person. They can reflect the geographic areas or articles requested, but are not organised as individual user histories. App-local trips, favorites, and downloaded content remain until removed or replaced by the app's cache management. Navigation and performance diagnostics are bounded local histories and can be cleared in Settings.

Network providers process IP addresses and other technical connection information to deliver and secure requests. The WanderWay service may process request paths and timing for diagnostics. Providers may also process operational or security information under their own policies.

If you email support, use the website contact form, or share diagnostics, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments. Do not send more personal information than needed to explain the problem. Deleting the app does not delete correspondence or correction reports already submitted; contact us to request their deletion.

Your data protection rights

If EEA data protection law applies, you may request access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability where applicable. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where consent is the basis. These rights have conditions and exceptions. WanderWay does not use your information for automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.

Send requests to support@wanderwayapp.com. Explain the information or interaction concerned, such as the place and approximate date of a correction report. We may ask for the minimum additional information needed to locate the record and verify your request; we do not require you to create an app account. We normally respond within one month. If a lawful extension is needed because of complexity or the number of requests, we will explain it within that month.

You can also complain to a supervisory authority, particularly in the EEA country where you live or work or where an alleged infringement occurred. The European Data Protection Board lists the authorities.

Your choices

• Change location, photo library, and notification access at any time in iPhone or iPad Settings, and location and notification access for the Android app in Android settings.
• Turn voice guidance and related options on or off in WanderWay.
• Turn destination weather on or off with Show Destination Weather in WanderWay Settings.
• Delete prepared tourist content and local diagnostics in WanderWay Settings.
• Remove other app-local data by deleting WanderWay.
• Choose whether to submit a place correction, share a diagnostic export, or share a route link, drive card, or Photo Recap.
• Choose whether to write to us through the website contact form or by email.
• On wanderwayapp.com, block the Cloudflare Web Analytics script with a content blocker if you prefer; the site works the same without it. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes your saved language choice.

Children’s privacy

WanderWay is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as WanderWay changes. The effective date at the top will be revised when an update is published.
